The best part is I won $50 from my Ducks-fan brother-in-law. I actually wouldn't have minded the quacks winning if only to improve the Kings' draft selection, but I had a feeling they'd lose this.

Selanne and Niedermayer's decision to sit out so long bothered me from the get-go, not personally, but from a strategic perspective. It reeked of entitlement at best, and serious pussification at worst--it messed with team chemistry and I think it gave other teams' even extra motivation to want to beat Anaheim. I think it also rattled the Ducks' confidence, particularly in the offensive end. It also screwed the Ducks out of Andy MacDonald, who was pretty heroic last year for them, IIRC. Combine all that with a shaky offense all season as well as the recent history of defending cup Champions, and I had a feeling.

The check's in the mail, I've been told. How sweet it is.
