Ducks Playoff Ticket Prices | | Yesterday, wifey was jonesing for hockey and we decided to head off to the Ducks-Stars games for our anniversary. I bought the tickets off of stuhub and was suprised when I picked up the tickets to get tickets printed on regular Ducks playoff tickets. I asked the guy about this and he said that the Ducks delivery them to them that way.
So, I started to think about how and why stubhub would get tickets directly from the Ducks. It seems the Ducks are either selling tickets to Stubhub to ensure that they get some dollars for each ticket at the same time the tickets sell to the public OR the Ducks are actively playing in the secondary ticket market. The same tickets for game 7 are going for $86 this morning.
My tickets in section 409 were $39. That seems to be cheaper than ticket master had them (at least $62.50) which isn't surprising since the Ducks were down 3-1. I could seem to get the TM tickets so I'm basing the price on the side bar with prices from $62.50 to $525. My tickets were probably more than the $62.50 since they were between the goals.
Anyone know anything about what's going on? From a yield management perspective, this seems fairly smart but from a PR standpoint, I'm not so sure. Does it look good if a team sells to what to a company that could be considered scaplers?
