This I totally agree with. The problem is, there seems to very little difference in the eyes of the law. For instance, todays news story I believe was about a halfway house in Al Hambra, and the six people in question were committed of crimes such as rape (bad) and public exposure (not quite as dangerous.)
One of the best is a sign help up by someone that states "Rape is not allowed in Al Hambra - GET OUT!" I feel ashamed for not walking the sidewalks stating that "Rape is not allowed here - so DON'T COME!"
Being selfish towards ones own family, but there is a time and place that ignoring the fplight of others is a shame for society. This works in many different levels. For instance, we look down on people for committing crimes often without analyzing what the crimes were committed for. A person stealing is bad, but what if they're stealing to feed their own children or medicine because they're sick?
I just think the energy for these people would be much better spent on reforming justice than trying to sweep societies problem out of their neighborhood into someone elses.
