Skrtel has looked good thus far, I saw an earlier post where you compare him to Vidic. Seems a bit silly at this point, Skrtel has looked good but to say he's better than Vidic when Skrtel has played what, like 10 games in the EPL doesn't make much sense. Vidic has proven himself over about 2 seasons worth of soccer.
Let's see how Skrtel does after that amount of time before comparing him to one of the best CBs in the game. |
Nothing is as ugly and disasterous as ManU losing to Bolton.
When Mascherano first arrived at Liverpool, within 10 games we already saw his class. Same with Fernando Torres, Xabi Alonso, and Daniel Agger regardless where they had success before the EPL. These guys have the ability and personality to bounce back after taking a licking. In the long run, there is more upside than downside.
I've seen alot of Skrtel since he joined the club. His defendng is top class except Vidic is taller, Skrtel the better of the two to take care of the ball. In less than 10 games and without preseason training with his teammates, he got the nod over Carragher for the CB position for the big matches. That's impressive by any standard.
As good as Vidic is, remember it was only last season that Vidic got shredded to pieces by Craig Bellamy for almost the entire game at Anfield. Overall, Vidic has done very well and Skrtel is showing the same tendencies in working out the kinks and excelling from it.
For someone who compared Alan Smith to Mark Hughes, you're shouldn't be calling anyone silly.
