Default The Doughty Stamkos Debate

Since Stamkos is slated to go number 1 overall and odds are the Kings get that pick, what do we do?

Many beleive we need defense more than an offensive star, however some beleive Stamkos is a "generational" talent, along the likes of Ovechkin and Crosby (Maybe not that good). So what do the Kings do?

Since we do have two first round picks what about doing this:

With the 1st overall pick we take Stamkos, an electric star we need for Kopitar and Brown who could step in immediately.

We then trade our 27th overall pick (dallas pick) or wherever they finish and trade it to a team in the top ten, and throw in one of our second rounders (detroits) and a second level prospect (Tukonen or Parse).

With that pick, let's say for the sake of arguement it is the 8th overall pick, we draft either Doughty, Bogossian or Piertrangelo. If none of them are available we go with Michael Del Zotto, who was once considered the best defensemen available.

We then have our superstar and a solid d man to come up thru the ranks.

Maybe we even deal Cammalleri and one of our third round picks for a mid round first and a top prospect, let's say to Boston for Vladimir Sobotka and their first, which could be around the 15th pick. We can then take John Carlson or Colton Tuebert, two very good defensemen.

If all this takes place we could come out with three outstanding prospects and really have a future. What do you think?

I know that if DL doesen't want to continue to get ripped by fans and the media he must do something on draft day. It's a little too far away but I want to hear what people think would be good.
