Default Putting the shootout tricks out to pasture (Regina Leader Post )

So far, that hasn't happened to Patrick O'Sullivan, one of the Los Angeles Kings posse of gifted young snipers. He is batting 1,000 in shootouts -- he's three-for-three, with two gamewinners this season.

What about these made-up moves, Patrick?

"I think a lot of guys try to do something that they have confidence in that they wouldn't have time to do in a real game," said O'Sullivan, who reared back for an old-fashioned slapper to beat Garon for his 17th goal of the season on Thursday night. "That's the thought process for a lot of the higher-skilled guys.

"What I do is pretty simple. It's something that I would do if I had a breakaway, so for me, it doesn't really change. I mean, I've got a couple of moves, depending on what I see on the way in."

"That's pretty much all I do," O'Sullivan said. "I've been doing it since I was eight years old and it seems to work at every level.

"I think it's just a tough area for a goalie to cover."
