It's Friday - 4 Days Away - We Know What DL is Looking For - So.....? | | Everyday we read the trade threads. Blake's going to Anaheim. Blake's going to Detroit. Blake's not going. Cammy to the Leafs. Cammy to the Preds. Stuart rejects a deal. Stuart doesn't reject a deal.
On another board, Rihard Petiot's brother insists there's a "big trade" coming! (Yeah, and Eric Lindros is signing with the Kings)
But lets be realistic here.
Dean Lombardi traded away Norstrom for a defensive prospect (whom he couldn't sign) and a 1st round draft pick.
He traded Sopel for picks.
He traded Conroy for picks.
He traded Avery for a low level prospect.
and his best 2 deals....
Pavol Demitra for a 1st round pick and O'Sullivan
and
Gleason/Belanger for JMFJ
were NOT at the deadline, they were at the draft or before.
So what's in store Tuesday. Really?
Cammy is obviously a blue chipper - someone he can dangle to a team desperate for scoring. But what's it gonna cost?
It will cost you a Weber. It will cost you a Staal. How many teams can afford THAT price? Because THAT is how Dean is going to build this club. How you make Cloutier and LaBarbera BETTER is to have BETTER guys in front of them.
That hasn't happened in two seasons. I have a feeling DL will address that situation.
Toronto wants Cammy - Okay. What defensive young gun comes the other way?
Edmonton wants Cammy - Okay. Does Edmonton give up Pitkanen?
Detroit wants Blake, but they're not gonna give up Kindl to get him. Unless Blake and Cammy go for Kindl and Howard?
I'm excited about the deadline, but I don't expect a Kings "blockbuster" - It's not Dean's style. I expect draft picks in the 2009 draft and maybe a few salaries dumped.
