Just to expand a little...

If your ipod is going to be used on a mac AND a PC, initialize it on the PC, because Macs can read/write to PC disks, but PCs cant read/write to Mac disks without third party help.


Also, RE: authorizing computers through iTunes. The above info is incorrect. YOu can actually authorize up to 5 computers to be able to use protected songs/movies bought through itunes. If you reach your limit, and still need to authorize another computer, you can VERY EASILY deauthorize all your current computers using a preference in iTunes, which will then allow you to authorize up to 5 computers again. (You will have to reauthorize the other computers, but that is pretty easy to do) There is no limit to how many times you can deauthorize all your computers. The whole thing takes about 15 seconds tops.
