While it is about time Blake showed some leadership and physical play, he needs to do it in a way that is not detrimental to the team. Being a defenseman, getting thrown out of the game for misconduct is not what the team needs whether it be for the two thirds of game or ten minutes, that leaves the other defensemen carrying the load of extra time on the ice. Perhaps if Dallman (or Klemm) were a part of the nightly lineup as a forward then it would work having that player move back to take up some of the extra minutes, but otherwise, no. Thornton got his point across without the misconduct penalty. The entire team needs to keep up the solidarity and just maybe the amount of liberties taken on them will decline.
